Our loving Father

We know You are here

We bring You our worries and all of our fears

We bring You the problems that we cannot solve

We know You are faithful

We know you are strong

Wonder-working God, open the heavens

You can make a way where there is no way

Wonder-working God, you can move mountains

You can make a way right here today

Working together, these four men found us the perfect place—on 107th Avenue, tucked out of sight from traffic and prying eyes.

Then donations started to pour in.

Seven churches united together to raise a “Mountain of Food” for Thanksgiving, and we needed a storage place. Remember how we weren’t allowed one in Whalley? So my little garage in White Rock was converted into a food storage warehouse, and supplies were carried to the Whalley streets−every night, seven nights a week.

The Fraser Valley Real Estate Board’s Blanket Drive provided hundreds of warm blankets. The Greater Vancouver Homebuilders’ Association donated coats. The Sheraton Hotel provided surplus blankets. So much came in that we finally had to secure a small storage space in nearby Langley to store all the goods.

I continued in the cave, my cottage basement office, with the assistance of a practicum student from Trinity Western University for four hours a week. She was a blessing.

Glancing back over the year, the enemy had been relentless in trying to distract, discourage, and wear us down. He kept us chasing our tails as we tried to keep up with his constant harassment. But we fought back with love, persistence, patience, long-suffering, and endurance . . . and some assistance from our earthly angels. The “Whalley Israelites” had found a home. “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything” (James 1:2-5 niv).

By God’s grace we had made it through another year. Through the trials and tribulations, God was teaching us about trust and faith.

And yes, He was right.

It was pure joy.
